Wayne D. Lewis, Jr. is the sixth president of Houghton University, an evangelical Christian university in New York State. Founded in 1883, Houghton is unapologetically rooted in Biblical doctrine and centered on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Houghton provides a Christ-centered, academically challenging living and learning experience that equips students exceptionally well for lives and careers as faithful scholar servants and leaders. A native of New Orleans, Wayne previously served in academic and leadership roles at Belmont University (Nashville, TN) and the University of Kentucky, and served the Commonwealth of Kentucky as Commissioner of Education. He resides in Western New York with his wife, Monica, and their daughter, Whitley. They worship at Eastern Hills Church, where Wayne serves on the teaching team.
